AT&T Announces New Data Plans, Up To 5GB With Tethering For $50

AT&TAT&T has had their current data plans for a while now and they are fine for most people. You can get 200MB of data, 2GB, or 4GB depending on how much data you use. If you will be just checking your email every once in a while then 200MB is probably fine, but if you will be constantly watching videos online a 4GB plan might be a little better for you. But what if you need more data? Well AT&T has some new data plans that aim to fix your issue with AT&T’s current data caps.

AT&T’s new data plans will go live on Sunday, January 22nd, 2012 and AT&T has overall upped the price of their plans a little bit but they also give you a little more bandwidth. The cost difference is only a $5 increase so the 300MB plan costs $20, the 3GB plan costs $30, and the 5GB plan costs $50. So you will be spending more money on these data plans but you will get more data. AT&T is doing this because more people are using more data so their current plans just might not be enough.

Tablet owners will only be able to use the new 3GB and 5GB data plans along with the currently available $15 250MB plan. Smartphone users can use all of the new plans. If you are a current customer you’ll even be able to stick with your current data plan at the current price even if it’s AT&T’s old unlimited plan even if you upgrade to a new phone or sign a new contract. But you can always go ahead and order the new data plans if you want.
