Next Generation Motorola Webtops Will Support Google Chrome

Motorola WebtopMotorola introduced the webtop last year with the Motorola Atrix 4G and for the most part the webtop was a good idea but just wasn’t done quite right which in the end made the webtop pretty much fail. But Motorola isn’t done with the webtop, they are still working to redesign and improve the webtop and an interview between The Verge and Motorola’s CEO Sanjay Jha revealed a little more information about the future of the webtop.

So right now the webtop is basically a keyboard that plugs into your phone and you have access to the Firefox web browser and really that’s about it. Now Firefox isn’t bad but operating systems like Google Chrome just are a little better in most areas. And Motorola’s CEO mentioned that future webtops should have the Google Chrome web browser while still having Firefox making the platform more compatible .

He also mentioned that an operating system like Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich would make the webtops more integrated. Which is a pretty good idea if the webtops were touchscreens.  But I personally think the best platform for the webtop would be Chrome OS. But Motorola never really said anything about having any sort of Chrome OS on webtops, but they still are working on the webtop platform.

What are your thoughts on this?
