Verizon introduced the Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx at CES 2012 which is a Droid RAZR but with a bigger battery and more storage. Droid RAZR customers might not be too happy about this since the Droid RAZR Maxx is going to replace the Droid RAZR when it comes to price. Yes, today Verizon went ahead and dropped the price of the Droid RAZR to make room for the new RAZR Maxx.
The Droid RAZR now costs just $200 on a two year contract making it match up with quite a few fairly new 4G LTE phones on Verizon like the HTC Rezound, and LG Spectrum. Which is a pretty good price for such a nice smartphone that has only been available for a few months. The Droid RAZR will sell in black and white along with the color purple which is new. But the Droid RAZR at $200 is a little different from the Droid RAZR at $300. You lose just the SD card meaning the $300 Droid RAZR that Verizon is discounting now has the extra 16GB SD card while the discounted version doesn’t. But that really isn’t a big deal since SD cards are very cheap.
The Droid RAZR Maxx is going to arrive on January 26th and it will replace the Droid RAZR’s $300 price point on a two year contract. You get the larger 21 hours of battery life and you also get 32GB of storage built in without any sort of SD card to deal with.
