I’ve been testing out Chrome for Android for a few days now on the Galaxy Nexus Samsung sent us in to review. So far the web browser is pretty good for a beta. I’ve had some issues with the browser lagging a little bit but that’s nothing a few software updates can fix. Right now Chrome for Android is only available for phones running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich which right now means not many phones at all. But we’ve heard that Google plans to make Chrome the default browser for Android in the future. It also turns out that Google really has a lot in store for Chrome on Android.
Google’s Sundar Pichai is the Google employee responsible for Google Chrome. In an interview with CNET he talked quite a bit about how Chrome is going to have a big future across computers, ChromeBooks, and Android smartphones over the next year. Google has been taking suggestions when it comes to features for Chrome for Android and some of the top feature requests include the ability to force browsers to load the full non-mobile websites, as well as full screen mode. Chances are those features will be put into Chrome for Android before the final version arrives.
Right now Chrome on Android is one version number below Chrome on Windows and Google plans to update Chrome for Android “at a pretty healthy place” which probably means Google will try to update both Chrome for Android just like they update Chrome on Windows which is quite frequently.
What are your thoughts on this?
