Leaked Images Show iPad 3′s Thicker Case Next To An iPad 2

Apple iPad 3Over the past few weeks we’ve gotten tons of different pictures showing off different parts of the Apple iPad 3. But recently we’ve actually started to get a nice and steady stream of images of a complete put together iPad 3. Which could mean Apple is just about ready to announce the next generation iPad.

Today’s set of pictures show that the iPad 3 is just a tiny bit thicker than the current iPad 3. The pictures make the case look noticeably thicker although chances are when you are using the iPad 3 it won’t be all that usable. I’ve tested out phones with similar thickness differences and I didn’t really notice the difference.

The larger case with the iPad 3 will be used to put in a 4G LTE radio inside for use with Verizon’s and AT&T’s LTE network. Sprint will probably be left out of this one when it comes to LTE but chances are you’ll still be able to use Sprint’s 3G network if you really want Sprint and an iPad 3. Both Verizon and AT&T will fall back to their 3G networks when you don’t have LTE coverage.

Apple A5X

When it comes to the iPad 3′s processor we might be looking at an Apple A5X chip instead of the rumored Apple A6 processor. The A5X chip would still be better than the A5 in the current iPad but it will be more of a slight update probably when it comes to the GPU and not a complete revamp of the processor. So we might have to wait until next year to see the quad core Apple A6 chip.
