The majority of Android smartphones sadly won’t ever get the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. But there are many newer smartphones that should be getting Ice Cream Sandwich over the next few months. One of those phones is the Galaxy S II on pretty much all of the carriers. Sprint might be first to get the update since today an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for the Sprint Galaxy S II leaked onto the Internet.
A little while ago a version of Android called RF09 leaked but today that ROM was actually modified just a bit so that it would run on the Galaxy S II. Not everything is working quite yet kind of hinting that we might still have to wait a little while to see this update arrive but right now many things do work like 4G 3G, and WiFi.
If you’re wondering about how TouchWiz will look and feel with Ice Cream Sandwich you won’t be in for a surprise. The TouchWiz skin looks very similar on Ice Cream Sandwich to the way it looks with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. But you still get a lot of the new apps and features that Ice Cream Sandwich brings to the phone.
